Find the equilibrium concentration of vacancies in aluminium at 300 K and 900 K. Given ΔH= 68 kJ/mol (AMIE, Material Science, Summer 2019, 10 marks)

Solution

At 300 K
\[\frac{{{N_v}}}{N} = \exp \left( {\frac{{68x{{10}^3}\Delta {H_f}}}{{8.314x300}}} \right) = \exp ( - 27.26) = 1.45\,x\,{10^{ - 12}}\]
